Location, location, location ; how we have come to appreciate this saying over the 25 years we have lived in this house, and was the first reason we were attracted to it. We are lucky enough to be in a quiet cul-de-sac ideally situated for the nearby schools, universities, hospital, and just a 15 minute walk to the centre of Canterbury with its excellent shopping, café culture, sports facilities, theatre and cinema.
More widely there are excellent road & rail links to London, Europe and the London airports. We have found the location of the house to be one of its major advantages, both for us and the family. With teenagers, it cut down the use of the parental taxi service! Despite its proximity to the city centre, the property s position is surprisingly quiet and visitors always comment on this.
The house with its five double bedrooms has grown with us and has been a wonderful family home, with enough rooms for chill spaces and homework for the children as they grew up. It now acts as a great entertaining house when family and friends are here, with space for the grandchildren to do their own thing!
One of the real advantages of the house for us has been the amount of storage capacity. Another major convenience is the size of the driveway, which is unusual in the immediate area. It can easily accommodate 6 cars plus some in the garage. The back garden has been big enough for children s football, hockey, badminton games, etc., but is still easily manageable.
We will be sad to leave the house where we have lived for over 25 years, but children and grandchildren are now all north of the Thames so it is time for us to follow and create new memories. I hope we remember how important Location is as we choose a new property!
