Downswood is just three miles east of Maidstone town centre and has one of the smallest parishes in the south of England. In addition to the parish council there is also Downswood Community Association, both working for the benefit of the residents. Maidstone West has four High Speed Rail Link trains run each way per day operating between Maidstone West and St Pancras via Strood and Gravesend. Trains from here also run to Paddock Wood.
