Chatham town centre is the main shopping area for the Medway Towns (Chatham, Gillingham and Rochester). The high street boasts a department store, and many famous names already. In the near future The Pentagon centre, the major shopping centre in the town, will undergo a massive face-lift, with additional retail, office and residential units turning it into the second largest shopping centre in the south east after Bluewater.
Chatham is an excellent commuter town with good rail connections to London Victoria, London Cannon Street, and the new high-speed service to London St Pancras, as well as towards Canterbury and the Kent coast. It has good road connections and is conveniently placed for the M2 and M20 motorways, and has good road and bus links to Maidstone.
